Ayurveda, Indian natural medicine, uses salt and turmeric to remove unwanted facial hair. According to Vasant Lad, author of "The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies," the turmeric and salt slows hair growth and encourages the hair to fall out. The process is slower than chemical depilatories -- taking several days -- but it is also more gentle on the skin. Turmeric is a common cooking spice and is available from the spice section of most grocery stores.
Add 5 tablespoons of sea salt and 6 tablespoons of ground tumeric to the air-tight container. Stir in 5 tablespoons of milk until it forms a paste.
Wash your face with mild soap, then pat it dry with a towel.
Massage a quarter-sized portion of the salt paste onto the unwanted facial hair for 15 minutes. Rinse your face with cool water.
Wipe toner, or astringent, over the area to remove any staining. Tumeric may stain the skin yellow.
Repeat once a day for at least eight days. Store unused mixture in the refrigerator.
Tip
Avoid harsh cleansers before using the paste.
