If you want to lose weight quickly, you may have heard of the trend of slimming body wraps. During a salon visit, a technician applies cloth coverings to the body that have been dipped in a blend of herbal extracts. You are measured in inches before the wrap is done. After the wrap is over, your measurements are taken again to show how much weight you have lost. You can make a homemade body wrap to lose weight. However, it is important to remember that there is no evidence showing that these wraps are an effective way for a person to lose the weight. You should talk to your doctor before you attempt to use a body wrap to achieve weight loss.
Choose a clean and calm area of the house to give yourself the body wrap. You may want to keep the room very warm. Put a sheet down on the floor since applying the wrap may get messy.
Boil water. Remove it from the heat and blend all the ingredients. Stir until the salt dissolves. Allow the mixture to cool for at least 10 minutes before applying to the body.
Soak the bandages in the mixture. The mixture should feel slightly warm to the skin, but not overly hot. You can reheat the wrap ingredients if necessary.
Apply the bandages to your naked body. Start at your ankles and work your way up the body. Move the bandages around the legs, thighs, buttocks, abs, arms and chest in a circular manner, cocooning the body. Secure the bandages with metal clips if necessary. Attach the clip to both ends of the bandage or tuck in the end underneath the bandage to secure. The bandages should be tight, but not overly constricted where it feels painful.
Leave the body wrap on for at least 45 to 60 minutes. During this time, you should stay warm. You may want to keep moving by lifting hand weights or doing another low impact form of exercise. You may also cover yourself with a thermal foil blanket to keep warm.
Tip
You may substitute any of the ingredients for other herbal extracts and essential oils. You may also include whole milk, goat's milk or witch hazel in place of any of the water in the body wrap.
If you find it difficult to apply the wraps on your own, ask a friend for assistance.
Remember to avoid unhealthy substances prior to the body wrap. Steer clear of caffeine, fatty foods, cigarettes and alcohol at least 48 hours before you plan to do the wrap.
You should drink a lot of water prior to the body wrap. Up your water intake after the wrap as well to help remove toxins from the body.
