Lotion provides a soothing layer of moisture and protection to skin, but the scent of commercial products can sometimes be too strong or otherwise unpleasant. Ditch the scent chosen by a cosmetic company and create a lotion with your favorite perfume. Start with a fragrance-free base to make a customized product.
Pour 1/3 cup of unscented lotion base into a small mixing bowl or a wide, tall glass.
Add three to five drops of perfume to the lotion base in the bowl. Stir the two ingredients together using a wooden tongue depressor until thoroughly combined.
Rub a pea-sized amount of the perfume mixture into your wrist area and smell the area. This step ensures that the ingredients work well with your skin and the natural fragrances you emit. Ensure that you like the amount of fragrance in your test sample.
Add more perfume to the mixture if you would like a stronger concoction. Add only a couple of drops or sprays at a time to ensure that the mixture is too strong. Experiment with intensities in small batches to find the right balance of lotion and scent.
Place the funnel in the top of a decorative bottle and pour the perfumed mixture into the bottle. Tap the bottom of the bottle on a counter as you add the perfume to coax the mixture into the bottle. Screw on the cap and keep the mixture in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
Tip
Use high quality perfumes and natural oils, like rose oil. These perfumes and oils emit a more balanced and lasting scent than cheaper body sprays.
Warning
Always use a lotion base with that is fragrance-free and ready to use.
Test the perfume on your skin before adding it to a lotion base to ensure that you enjoy the scent.
