Gas and bloating are caused by different factors in different individuals. While some sources claim that grapes have been shown to reduce bloating, still others maintain that in many individuals grapes cause gas and bloating.
Grapes as a Cause for Bloating
Grapes can cause bloating in some individuals because of their sensitivity to, or inability to fully digest fructose, the natural sugar present in fruit. Some individuals experiencing bloating and flatulence after eating grapes may suffer from fructose malabsorption or fructose intolerance.
Grapes as a Treatment for Bloating
Interestingly enough, grapes are also recommended as a minimal gas food that serves as a natural remedy to reduce gas and bloating and promote digestion.
Prevention/Solution
If you experience gas or bloating after eating grapes, eliminate grapes from your diet for a few weeks and see if you experience any change. If you are still experiencing gas and bloating, another habit or food may be causing your adverse effects.
